The dresses in The World in His Arms (1952) are by Universal's Bill Thomas, who also did Little Egypt (1951), Playgirl (1954), Magnificent Obsession (1954), Slaughter on Tenth Avenue (1957), The Female Animal (1958), and Touch of Evil (1958). The tiny figure underneath the dresses belongs to 5'2" 34-23 1/2-34Ann Blyth. What's that, a dress Size Zero or something? Here's a very nice tribute video:
Her birthday was August 16th. Sorry I'm late. Happy birthday, Ann.
In spite of her quivering Joey Heatherton lips, her Roy Rogers squinty eyes, and her Loretta Young-Irene Dunne worldview, I don't really mind Ann Blyth. Don't miss her as Lenore in the 1948 William Powell movie Mr. Peabody and the Mermaid. She later became a spokesperson for Hostess Cupcakes. Uh-huh. Mmmmmm. . . . .cupcakes!
