This is a picture of Phyllis Haver that I just plain like. It's not the marcelled hair, that plump elbow, or the bee-sting lipstick. It might be the dress or the hand-on-the-hip pose. I dunno. She just looks ready.
Anyway, DeMille dressed Anne Baxter in several marvelously semi-transparent gowns, which you can see in the clip below.
Certain strategically lighted publicity photos (not those shown here) accidentally revealed too much of Anne Baxter's anatomy, and these negatives became very popular among Hollywood's darkroom employees. I don't have any of those pictures to show you, but I found this cool little slide show about Anne Baxter.
By the way, Cecile B. DeMille had his first heart attack while working on The Ten Commandments. He died three years later.
February 5th is Barbara Hershey's birthday. I love her mid-career movies, like Hoosiers (1986), Hannah and Her Sisters (1986), The Public Eye (1992), and Falling Down (1993).
February 3rd is Blythe Danner's birthday. Me, I just think she's dreamy. Sorry about the quality and size of the photos, but they were really hard to find. Happy birthday, Blythe.
