"I'll have the Number 4 breakfast with cheese,
a milk, and a small black coffee, please."
"You want cheese with that?"
"Uhhh. . .yeah."
"White or chocolate?"
"What?"
"Chocolate milk or white milk?"
"White milk. You get a lot of heroin addicts in here
who order chocolate milk for breakfast?"
"Cream in your coffee, sir?"
"No, it's a black small black coffee."
"And that's small?"
"Yup."
(I love a quiz in the morning.)

Escape by Night (1937), Gang Bullets (1938), and Never
Give a Sucker an Even Break (1941), in which she played

From the "Non-Blonde Misc." folder

Susan Kohner
Just routine maintenance on the "Non-Blonde"
folder. But there are some stunners in here.

glamour
(Isn't the Venetian blind shadow effect supposed
to mean something viscerally significant in
the
visual language of film noir
? Doesn't it indicate
a social, moral, or geopolitical stratification?
Doesn't it dice up the hard-boiled detective's
psychological background or vivisect his angst
or ennui or some such B.S.?)
