B-movie actress Anne Nagel is not to be confused with British actress Anna Neagle. Our Anne Nagel appeared in Bullets or Ballots (1936), Hoosier Schoolboy (1937), Escape by Night (1937), Gang Bullets (1938), and Never Give a Sucker an Even Break (1941), in which she played a character named "Madame Gorgeous." (These vidcaps are from Gang Bullets, Escape by Night, and The Mad Monster (1942), most of which are now Public Domain.) (From NSFW Sexy Witch.)

Just routine maintenance on the "Non-Blonde" folder. But there are some stunners in here. (Isn't the Venetian blind shadow effect supposed to mean something viscerally significant in the visual language of film noir? Doesn't it indicate a social, moral, or geopolitical stratification? Doesn't it dice up the hard-boiled detective's psychological background or vivisect his angst or ennui or some such B.S.?)
