Debra Paget plays a bad redhead in
The River's Edge (1957). Well, not exactly a
bad redhead. I mean, more like a sexy brunette with a really bad dye job and cut. Like a failed
la lollo "tossed salad" hair cut, except in
DeLuxe Color red. Anyway, the bad hair seems to fit in well with some of the film's disconcerting dialogue and goofy storyline. (And let's not confuse it with the creepy 1986 Ione Skye-Dennis Hopper film
River's Edge.) Anyway, as 1957 movies go,
The River's Edge is not as good as
The Bridge on the River Kwai or
Sweet Smell of Success, but I found it more interesting than, say,
I Was a Teenage Werewolf or
The Monster That Challenged the World.
