July 4th was Gina Lollobrigida's birthday.
It was last Friday, when you and I were busy
blowing our fingers off with illegal fireworks
and changing diapers and washing our giant
red pickup trucks and taking out the trash
and changing the cat litter and drinking way
too much at Aunt Connie's barbecue party
and throwing up in the wastepaper basket
and looking over those divorce papers one
last time and revising that suicide note and
trying out that Snickerdoodle cookie recipe
that we found online, well, Gina was having
a birthday. And we got busy and forgot it.
So. . .here goes. . .
