Stuck For An Answer

Ava Gardner once said of Clark Gable that if you
said, "Hiya, Clark, how are you?" he'd be stuck
for an answer. This photograph reminded me of that
quote. There's a good, if somewhat sad, biography
of her by Lee Server. It's called Ava Gardner:
Love Is Nothing. I read it a couple years ago.
It's kind of grim, especially near the end. There's
