Helen Mack in SHE

I love watching Helen Mack. I just watched her in She (1935) from those good folks at Kino. Great fun movie with swell special effects. Of course, I also like watching her walk around in a swimsuit. Anyway, in She, Helen Mack does not play the title character, "She Who Must Be Obeyed." Instead Helen plays "Tanya," who might be called "she who cannot be ignored," mainly because she's as cute as lace pants. Exactly why Randolph Scott doesn't just run away with her in the first place, I don't know. (And you can keep all that "Cary Grant" whispering to yourself.) Anyway, the Kino DVD can be watched in color or in black and white, and there are lots of extras. These pictures don't do it justice. Check it out for yourself.

Cool French Underground Girls

This beauty is Irina Demick, also known as Irina Demich and Yrina Demik. I often mix her up with Marie Versini. I don't know why. But they're both French and lovely, and you know how I can get about French girls. No, actually, I think it's that Irina Demick played a really cool French Underground girl in The Longest Day (1962), which was a giant World War II movie with a huge international all-star cast, and Marie Versini played a really cool French Underground girl in Is Paris Burning? (1966), which was another giant World War II movie with a huge international all-star cast. Or something. Maybe, if I think about it, I can put together a Marie Versini post. But for now, all we get is Irina.




Cool French Underground girls always seem to
be in need of a comb. I love it.

August 2nd is Madeline Smith's birthday.
Maddy is a member of some exclusive clubs.
She was a Hammer Horror girl in Taste the
Blood of Dracula (1970), The Vampire Lovers
(1970), and Frankenstein and the Monster
from Hell (1974). She was also a Bond girl
in Live and Let Die (1973). Furthermore,
she appeared with Vincent Price in Theater
of Blood (1973). If you see her in nothing
else, watch her in The Vampire Lovers.
