Introducing Helen Hovey

Helen Hovey
Helen Hovey appeared in only one movie, The Sadist (1963).
She was reportedly the cousin of Arch Hall, Jr., who played
the sadist. The film is a very simple and surprisingly effective
B-movie shot by Vilmos "William" Zsigmond (Obsession,
Images, The Deer Hunter). You can see a trailer at Trailers
From Hell or watch the whole movie at the Internet Archive.
But make sure to watch for Helen Hovey.

Helen Hovey.. Oh man I have a huuuge crush on her! :D
My uncle gave me boxful of cheesy "B" flicks from the '50's-'80's and "The Sadist" was included in the bunch. It was kinda cheesy but at the same time actually a decent movie for its time. Arch Hall's character really got his at the end (the rattlesnake pit from hell, yeah!!)
Both girls in the flick were great but Helen Hovey was adorable! Do you know what became of her?? It's too bad she only appeared in one movie. :( She was awesome! Really sweet & she seemed so innocent. I'd love to meet a girl like her! :P Yeah, I know, she's from an era long gone & girls these days aren't like they used to be. That's what my elders always tell me. I should've been born in the 50's or 60's (I was born in '86) :(
Thanks for featuring Helen Hovey on your blog, which is a pretty cool blog by the way! :)

EVERYBODY but Starlet Showcase seems to have forgotten Helen Hovey. Glad you enjoyed the post. That's what we're here for. Look around. You might find someone else you like, too.

A few years ago, a friend asked us to sit down and watch a movie. After a few minutes, he asked us if we could recognize the voice. It was, surprisingly and unmistakably, Helen's. She never did go on to make another movie (I don't know why, she played a wonderful ingenue).

Regrettably, Helen passed away this morning after battling cancer for the better part of this year. The aura of sweetness and innocence that you noticed in her character was real and she retained it into her later years. She is survived by her husband, Garland, four children and five grandchildren.

Not long after the movie was made, Helen met Jesus and got saved. That was the reason she never made another movie, and had lived embarrassed about the one she made!
She was a beautiful, sweet soul who was always kind, gave everything she had to anyone who had need, was hospitable, fun, smart and genuine.
It was sad that she passed from this world, but we are rejoicing at her good fortune.
She is loved and will be missed until we see her again.

Just watched the movie and found it quite entertaining. What really stood out was the beautiful Helen Hovey. Stunning really. Just did some digging on the internet about her and ended up here. Very sad she has passed and unfortunate she did not appear in other films. In reading the blogs above I understand why.

I couldn't wait to see what loser was being 'introduced' in this junky film I was about to see when...Good gracious alive she was perfect. The movie was great as well. HAD to google her. I'm 50 yrs old n got a lump in my throat just finding out now she has passed. How cool that 40yrs after her only movie the good lord pointed me to a sister in the faith.
